It's still busy

I know; I've been neglecting my blog lately. Having grandchildren here so frequently has taken a lot of time and, as I explained before, it's just a busy time of year for our family. I haven't even worked on my Winding Ways quilt in days. :( But yesterday was my husband's birthday, and we had our family dinner at our elder daughter's house. I took the dessert -- and completely forgot to take a picture of it! Ack! It's really a shame, since it was truly pretty, and now all that's left is one lonely piece. ;)

This is what's left of a White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake, and it's worth every last calorie! You may just be able to see that there's raspberry sauce marbled through the cheesy filling, and of course there's more raspberry sauce dripping down from the top. I have to say that raspberry is one of my favorite flavors, and this combination is just so good.

If you're interested in making one yourself, just click on over to CJ's blog and get her recipe. You'll thank me, really you will (though my hips may never forgive me).

Busy time of year

It's usually the holiday season that makes people crazy with comings and goings, but this time of year is almost as busy for us. It started with one daughter's birthday at the end of April, followed by a granddaughter's birthday at the beginning of May. Then there was Mother's Day, my husband's mother's birthday and the other daughter's birthday all in the space of a week. This daughter couldn't celebrate on her special day, so we're having her and her family, as well as the other daughter and her family over for dinner tonight. Dessert will be these key lime pies, which should be cool and refreshing in our rapidly-warming weather. :) After that, there will be my husband's birthday in about a week, and then we should get a bit of a break. ;)

I did get a chance to work on my Winding Ways blocks yesterday at a friend's house. We spent such a fun day sewing and talking and eating! I'm now just over three quarters of the way finished with making these blocks! As you may be able to see in the photo, I've used three of my four red fabrics, so now I'm working on the last of the reds. I also have four yellows

Mother's Day flowers

I've just realized that I completely forgot to post a photo of my Mother's Day flowers! Oops! When my daughter and son-in-law gave them to me on Saturday evening (a week ago already), they were mostly green buds. I brought them home and put them in water, and they're lasting beautifully. But the green buds soon began giving way to white ones, which in turn gradually grew pink. You can see the result -- they're gorgeous, aren't they? :)

Busy, busy

I've been sort of quiet for the past several days, and I have a really good excuse, honest! ;) Two of our grandsons (aged 9 and almost 6) have been staying with us while our daughter (their mom) has to be out of town on business. She comes home on the weekends, which gives us a much-needed break. We've finished a week and are into our second one now.

Yesterday the younger boy had a birthday party to attend, so the older one and I made cookies (remember these?). Usually there isn't much time for that sort of thing, between supervising homework, getting boys to soccer practice, getting them to and from school and all of the other little things that go into raising children. So being able to do some baking was a nice change. :) My grandson enjoyed adding things to the mixer bowl and shaping the cookies, but it was torture for him to smell them baking. ;)

Last weekend I decided that Bisou was getting pretty shaggy, so it was time for her to get cleaned up. I usually split the clipping and bathing into two separate days, since she gets pretty traumatized by the process and this eases it a bit. I'm not very good at clipping her, but I am getting a bit better, I think. So here's a photo of her while she's still looking pretty spiffy.

Mother's Day was a couple of days ago, of course, and mine was a lovely one. Actually, I was able to celebrate twice, as our elder daughter took us out to dinner on Saturday evening, and our younger one took us out to brunch on Sunday! I felt quite pampered and enjoyed every minute, but there aren't any photos of these events. :)

Anyway, with all of this going on, I haven't even done any piecing in days! :O
